Playing with the Panel finish - and!! Finished ( or not) Friday

 Whoot Whoot!!!

I purchased this panel on my NoCoShopHop from the Fig Leaf in Ft Collins. Its sort of funny that we had watched Top Gun the night before and then this panel just popped into my vision...

Do you remember the song in Top Gun - "Playing with the boys" by Kenny Loggins? that is what I have been singing in my head - hence - the Playing with the Panel part 😁😁

Are you Ready?

I mean!! Is it even a quilt if the girls don't pose by it???
Seriously!

I quilted it with Stars and  Loops - and now it will go to one of our group people for its binding. You just have to add that extra love in it that way!'

My husband is home full time right now, he also went on the Shop Hop with me, and so - I bragged... I said - See - I don't just stash fabrics - I use it SOOO fast!!!

Do you think he bought it?

Alright folks - It is now your turn!!

the Rabbit hole... has found... the bottom

I am DONE!! making blocks for my Jelly Roll 18 - aka *the Rabbit Hole*

I have them all laid out the way I want them - and they are now ready to row!!!

now it is 6 x 8 - and the are 12 inch blocks - so should be 72 x 96 ish ( I am not a perfect 1/4 inch stitcher sometimes) but I liked the idea of a bigger quilt...

Hope you all have recovered from your 4th of July Weekend - and were able to celebrate our Independence!! We went to a fireworks show- one of our sons friends is a firefighter with the Southeast Weld Fire - and they put on an awesome fireworks display.

we sat in the back of the pick up and they were right over head - it was the best show I have ever seen, even if I did have to rccline 😃

We rode a little:

We dogged a lot ...I was trying to get them all poseable with the flowers - but there were too many distractions ( read K had snacks!! - human ones)

and we celebrated K's Birthday - We think it is becoming a tradition to let him skunk us on his birthday. ( okay - I always get skunked!)

Today - we go back to reality and work and No More Goofing OFF ... until the next time!!

See you WEDNESDAY for the kick off of our new Quilt a LONG!! its fun and eaaaasssssyyyyyy

A new QOV Quilt a Long - and!! Finished!! ( or not) Friday

 Happy 4th of July!!!!

I hope you have some great things planned for today to celebrate our Independence!!

I have an announcement!!

I will be hosting a NEW QUILT OF VALOR Sew a long !! I am doing it this way, as I have heard that folks would really like to see what they are making before jumping in - and so!!

WEDNESDAY July 9th - you will see the quilt and the Fabric Requirements. oh! and the cutting instructions.

Each Wednesday a new step will drop until we are finished. You have the option of stitching ahead if you think you know how to make the block ( which many of you totally will.... but I am pretending I have all the info at this moment haha) - or stitching along with the rest of us.

You can also join in by my Groups. io - /MysteryQuilts4Military

It should be fun, it won't be long - and as always I would love for you to get it to a QOV group, use for your QOV awards, or award it yourself ;-)

I know its a holiday - but does our quilting take a holiday?? I don't think so!! I am obessessed!!

So hopefully you have a post for this week and want to link up what you finished ( or didn't)

As you can see - I do not have a finish - its all customer quilts that got finished ... but I did do some piecing - so future finishes ;-)

Playing with the Panel part 2

 Remember my panel?

I am proud to say - it is now a top!!!

Just in case you don't remember - this is the panel I purchased at the Fig leaf in Ft Collins CO on the No Co Shop Hop. Go me!! I didn't put in in a pile!!

I have to say I really like this setting - so I have cut some more Flags for Sue to use as leader enders and brought out a few more panels that were marinating in my stash!!!

This ended up being 62 x 80 !! Perfect Quilt of Valor size!!

In Ranch news - our water almost tasted un chlorinated!! I also have most of the laundry done ( I figured I would use that chlorinated water for good) . And by done - I mean washed, and dried - didn't want you to be jealous and think it was folded and put away too 😆😆😆

The fourth of July is Friday - it is also our Finished ( or not) Friday. I hope you will come back and link up one post from this week:-)

We don't have big plans , we might head to town to watch the parade, or we might go golfing in the morning. or... we might just do what we always do - ride the horses  haha!

What will you be doing?

The Rabbit Hole - aka Jelly Roll 18

 Progress!!!

alright!! Truth time!!

I know this - but I never remember this - Jelly rolls - or Strip packs have 40 strips - NOT 42!!! So when I do my math - I am always wrong *ugh*

I can't quite make a 6 x 7 setting - with 40 strips - so I started thinking about stars - the ones from my happy half square project - specifically - Block 3 Block 3 pattern here

so I decided to make some and see what I think - here is where I am!!

Full disclosure - we also decided to do this Jelly Roll 18 block for our QOV sew day - and!! now!! we are going to add the stars - and it will be like Stars and Stripes!!!

my well has been fixed! thank you for the concern. When he fixed the well, he also chlorinated the well and the cistern. Safety precautions - but you know what? We don't like chlorinated water - it has a funny taste haha!! so we had to go buy some bottled water for us and the pups - until the chlorine runs its course.

Plaid Patriotic Buckeye Quilt and !! Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

Wednesday Morning we woke up - and I tried to turn the water on - to no avail! Our Well Pump had died. For some reason that just threw off my whole day , and seemed to get my morning off to a rough start - I had to brush my teeth without water...

Well not totally true - we do have a lot of bottled water that we save and refill quite often - just in case. When the power goes out we also have no water.

I also still had 2 quilts of valor to wash for the next presentation... that flustered me..

So I went quilting!!

I made this Plaid Patriotic Diamond Chain quilt - ( or Buckeye Beauty) and I think it was time to quilt it up!!! I Love plaid.... its just awesome!

Now you knew - i was going to have to make the girls pose! They are really getting the hang of it, and I believe they think it is expected anymore haha

It has been cloudy and overcast - but when I went to take photos the sun was so bright - it got hard to see the quilting pattern.... But yay!! this will go off to the binder... and bam!! one more will be ready to roll!

Just for fun - this is the hay field - doesn't it look so cool? ahh maybe not as cool in a photo as it is  in person - but the circles, I thought that would be a cool quilting design.

now it is your turn!! Link up your favorite post from this week and show us what you finished (or not)

* please use a direct link
* visit lots of others and leave a comment
* enjoy!!

Playing with the panel

Remember the Panel I bought on Shop Hop too? It came from the Fig Leaf in Ft Collins - and... I just didn't want to put it away.

So - while my Jelly Roll 18 block pile is growing - I put the panel up and started studying....

And then I remembered the Flags for Sue Block, and then I got to looking - I still have a few blocks left - and so.....

I like this!! I have started adding some sashing between the blocks to grow the quilt to be 60 x 80. I did get two sashing's done, but then.. I had to babysit.  the Pound Puppy came home - and oh my gosh -

three dogs - too much fun and too much energy!

this girl is so cute and my kiddo is doing a great job of training her - but three!!! and on a hot day where they really couldn't be outside in the middle of the day...

Plus - look how cute she is!! they are headed back out to the field, so we will see what I can accomplish now haha!

The Baby Horse aka Rexie Roo

Look at this cute little Fluff Ball!!!

Three weeks old today!!!

We believe that the more your baby gets used to you and what all you do on the place , the more broke and safer he is. So we have been working on petting him all over, Picking up his feet, and sort of pressuring him into walking with the feel. This is  the start to halter breaking him.

when they feel the pressure along with a little tug it will encourage them to move forward, instead of resist and wonder what the heck the thing on their face is.  We like gentle training, and soft encouraging. Not force or pain...

He doesn't really drink much water as he is nursing - but he likes to play in the tank and sticks his nose in the running water, then shakes. He makes me giggle!

We are calling him Rex at the moment. He will need a registered name - and I think we have that picked out as well - but the final call.... still has to be made.

Did you see we have the halter on him? He looked at Momma Mare like really?   but he did very well. He only had it on for about 5 minutes and we just got him used to it while hanging with momma!

I went down the Rabbit Hole, Saw a squirrel and made a hard right.....

a bit ago I was browsing blogs - and I was reading LA Paylors blog . She mentioned the Jelly Roll 18 pattern, so I went googling, and I found it - and a You Tube video ...and there was a printable pattern....

then!! I drug my husband all over the state and of course, might have bought a strip pack ( they didn't call it a jelly roll, but same idea....

And then it got hot.....

So!! Ta da!!! I have started a new quilt - and!! used one of the things I purchased!!  ( the Bernatex strip pack from On Pins and Needles

Go me!!!

and my Ms Baby Bella turned two!!!!

she loves to run, chase sticks, chase her sister, play in the water system of the trees, and snuggle with me. She also loves snacks, Cheetos, and anything you deem safe for her ;-)
